Pete Siers...drums

A native of Saginaw, Michigan, Pete Siers emerged on the jazz scene during his undergraduate years at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1986, Pete joined the Eddie Russ Trio which led him to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Since his move to Ann Arbor, Pete has become everybody's favorite drummer! He is a vital member of many prominent jazz ensembles including the Paul Keller Orchestra, the Keller/Kocher Quartet, the Tad Weed Freedom Ensemble, The Marcus Belgrave Octet, the Ron Brooks Trio, and the Bess Bonnier Quartet. Pete has performed in concert with jazz legends Mulgrew Miller, Mose Allison, Doc Cheatham, James Moody, Franz Jackson, and Frank Morgan. Siers also toured with guitarist Russell Malone and recorded with Malone's quartet on the Columbia record label in the early 1990's.

Pete has integrated music philosophy from lessons with Jeff Hamilton, Adam Nussbaum, and Kenny Werner into his own teaching methods and playing style. He has assembled several creative projects: Los Gatos, a Latin jazz quintet; The Pete Siers Quartet, a contemporary jazz ensemble; and The Pete Siers Trio, a straight-ahead jazz group. The Pete Siers Trio's first CD Those Who Choose To Swing features pianist Johnny O'Neal and bassist Paul Keller and was released in March 1999 on PKO Records. Los Gatos' CD Cat's Got Your Tongue is an exciting live recording that captures the spirit of Cal Tjader. Pete's latest CD Those Who Choose to Swing, Volume II featuring Siers, Keller and pianist Larry Fuller was released in January, 2005.
